On October 4th, 2007 Arantza, the director of the film, was detained and taken to prison. She remembers a few things about those days: endlessly walking around the prison exercise yard, swimming competitions, Rasha’s prison journey… After 918 nights locked up, Arantza is set free. From then onwards, she recorded her memories and doubts, which are heard throughout the documentary as a kind of fragmented memoir.

Arantza Santesteban (Pamplona, 1979) is a historian, filmmaker and audiovisual researcher. She has codirected documentary shorts including Passatgeres (2012) and Euritan (2017), shown at San Sebastian Festival as part of the Kimuak selection and which was screened at the Punto de Vista or MiradasDoc, among others. She has produced different research works on contemporary political conflicts, feminism and cinematic representation. Until May 2020, she was coordinator of the Hiriarte Centre for Contemporary Culture (Pamplona). 918 gau was selected for Ikusmira Berriak in 2018.
