Eva is a young woman who hopes to become a doctor when the ancestral customs of her community get in her way. Dragged into a marriage she does not want, the bond of friendship with her husband’s cousin will be her only support and contact with the historical past of her country, Rwanda, and the genocide it once suffered.

Myriam U. Birara (1992, Zaire) is a Rwandan filmmaker and visual artist (painter).  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in finance.  Myriam directed three shorts. The last one,  was premiered at Locarno IFF and won the Medien Patent Verwaltung AG Award. Imuhira was shown in important film festivals like BFI London FF, Melbourne IFF. In 2022 Imuhira won The best east African short film Award in URUSARO women film festival in Rwanda. The Bride is her first feature film.
