Thomas y Michael son hermanos y crecieron en Washington. Michael cursó cine en la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU) y anteriormente produjo Newlyweeds, ganador del premio Film Independent Someone to Watch 2014. Los trabajos de Thomas incluyen 3 temporadas de The Newsroom y films como American Hustle y Joy. También es miembro fundador de The Attic Theatre Company. Lost Holiday es el debut de ambos como realizadores.
