Santiago Fillol, Mariana Barassi, Felipe Lage, and Ramiro Ledo, advisors behind this year’s Novos Cinemas’ #LAB

NOVOSCINEMAS#LAB, Novos Cinemas’ training program for emerging filmmakers, will take place between June 30 and July 1 as part of the activities offered within the framework of thefestival. In this year’s edition, we will be honored by the presence of Santiago Fillol, Mariana Barassi, Felipe Lage, and Ramiro Ledo –all of them renowned professionals of the cinema industry that will share their perspective and experience with the participant filmmakers to help them make the most of their projects.

  • Santiago Fillol (Córdoba, Argentina) works as a Professor of Literature and Filmmaking at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain). He combines his teaching activity with his career as a writer and screenwriter, and has been Oliver Laxe’s assistant during the making of his film Mimosas (2016). Fillol is currently working on a script for Laxe’s next feature film.
  • Mariana Barassi (Buenos Aires, Argentina) is General Coordinator of Programa Ibermedia’s course on development, and is in charge of the MRG//WORK area of the Spanish film festival Márgenes.
  • Felipe Lage (Galicia, Spain) works as CEO at the production company Zeitun Films since2009.As a producer, he has contributed to the development of a number of feature films, such as Todos vós sodes capitáns (Oliver Laxe, 201), Arraianos (Eloy Enciso, 2012), The Fifth Gospel of Kaspar Hauser (Alberto Gracia, 2013), Costa da Morte (Lois Patiño, 2013), Pozoamargo (Enrique Rivero, 2015), andMimosas (Oliver Laxe, 2016).
  • Ramiro Ledo Cordeiro (Galicia, Spain) is President, co-founder and member of NUMAX, a Galician cooperative society devoted to cinema. He is also in charge of its associated movie theatre and manages NUMAX Distribución –an independent distribution company dedicated to encouraging contemporary auteur filmmaking.

The #LAB intends to be a meeting point for promising filmmakers and professionals of the cinema industry that are interested in independent film projects. NOVOS CINEMAS#LAB’s main purpose is to help film directors and producers acquire adequate skills to effectively bring their projects into the cinema market.

Participation in the #LAB is open to filmmakers from all over the world that are working on their first or second film.
The call for entries closes on April 10.
