14 June 1941. Erna, happily married and the mother of a young daughter, is sent to Siberia. For her, time takes on another dimension. Fighting starvation and humiliation in inhuman conditions, her soul seeks and finds freedom in the le ers she sends to her husband who has been sentenced to prison camp.

Martti Helde is an Estonian filmmaker born in Tallinn. He graduated from the Baltic Film and Media School at Tallin University, and is currently a ending the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. His filmography includes several short films, such as Päev, mil ma kasvasin (2008), and Külm on (2010). He has also directed dozens of TV commercials. In the Crosswind (2014) is his debut feature film.
