ABOUT SHADOWS AND SHADOW
Tim Burton (1958, Burbank , USA), is a filmmaker who created his own universe. His visual codes and his characters have transcended the screen, influencing creators from other fields -art, advertising, fashion…- being now part of our collective imagination. Sublimating or radicalizing the North American archetype of the marginal or the rare, the main characters of his films exceed the norm to star in stories set in dreamlike or terrifying places where forms are distorted, and diversity define the everyday.
In this workshop we will introduce an anthology of his most outstanding filmography, we will learn his influences and we will delve into the aesthetic qualities of his stories and sets: true engines of some of the most original and unique films of contemporary American cinema. Girls and boys, exercising some kind of artistic direction, will experience the transition from 2D to 3D through the design of sets that reproduce the universe of some of Burton’s inimitable creatures trying to find the highest possible degree of fidelity.
